THINGS TO PREPARE FOR BACK TO SCHOOL

As the summer comes to an end, I would be remist not to talk about back-to-school. Here we go.. Get ready for fall. t’s common for both parents and children to experience some anxiety. Even though it’s only August, summer always seems to go by too quickly. School bells ringing to begin a new year will be here before we know it.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK!

Pomegranate, Vodka and Violet Granita

Ingredient Checklist

  • 300g caster sugar
  • 1L (4 cups) cranberry and pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup (250ml) vodka
  • Seeds of 1 pomegranate
  • Edible violets, to serve

Instructions Checklist

  • Step 1Place sugar and 1L (4 cups) water in a pan over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Simmer for 10 minutes or until slightly reduced, then pour into a bowl.
  • Step 2Cool slightly, then stir in the juice. Transfer to a 2L (8 cup) container. Freeze overnight until frozen. Scrape with a fork into crystals.
  • Step 3Divide vodka among 8 serving glasses and top with granita. Scatter with pomegranate seeds and edible violets.
